ST3 featuresTracking

The hit on the screen is the hit you made

Optical tracking on Marksman ST3 measures where your firearm is pointing and maps the shot onto the projected screen. Precision is 0.18 MOA, about 5 mm at 100 m. A laser spot on the wall is a different method, and a beam that spreads by degrees cannot show a miss of a few centimetres.

Bar length is the error class, not a group from one session. ST3 is about 650× finer than a laser class of about 2°.

What you can train

  1. 01

    Aim

Mount and aim are measured on the firearm, not inferred from a spot on the wall.

  2. 02

    Lead

A moving target stays readable because the track keeps up with the swing.

  3. 03

    One correction

Change your feet or your hold. The next shot uses the same track, so you can see what moved.

What you see

  1. 01

    A small miss stays small

You can trust a miss of a few centimetres. That is the difference between a correction and a guess.

  2. 02

    ST-2 was the previous step

ST-2 tracked at about 1 MOA on a cable. ST3 is wireless at 0.18 MOA.

Realism, safety, ethics

If the track is wrong, you practice the wrong correction. The precision is what makes the lesson carry outside.

Questions

How accurate is Marksman ST3 optical tracking?

Marksman ST3 tracks the firearm at 0.18 MOA, about 5 mm at 100 m. The previous ST-2 tracker was about 1 MOA and wired. ST3 is wireless.

How does ST3 tracking compare with a laser simulator?

Typical laser simulators are limited by beam spread to about 2°, roughly 120 MOA. ST3 at 0.18 MOA is about 650 times more precise than that class, before ballistics or the firearm itself.

What is the Marksman ST3 shooting simulator?

Marksman ST3 is a projector-based shooting simulator for your own rifle, shotgun, or handgun. A wireless optical tracker maps each shot to the screen at 0.18 MOA, about 5 mm at 100 m, with about 1 ms from shot to picture. It is not a laser insert, a VR headset, or a game controller, and no live round is fired at the screen. The previous ST-2 tracker was about 1 MOA and wired.

The rest of the system

Figures are published Marksman ST3 specifications: 0.18 MOA tracking, about 1 ms from shot to screen, 235 calibers, 4,700+ rifle and handgun profiles, and 12,600 shotgun combinations.
